A painter needs to paint the bottom of a circular pool. The pool has a radius of 30 feet. A store sells 5-gallon cans of paint. Five gallon of paint covers 1500 square feet. What is the smallest number of 5-gallon cans the painter must buy to cover the bottom of the pool?

Given that :

Radius of pool = 30 feets

Using the relation for the Area of a circle :

Area = pi*r^2

Thus,

Area of pool = 3.14 * 30^2

Area of pool = 3.14 * 900 = 2826feet²

Paints are sold in cans of 5 gallon

5 gallon of paint = 1500 feet²

Least number of 5 gallon can required :

2826 feet² / 1500 feet² = 1.884 cans

Hence,

Least number of 5 gallon can required = 2 cans
