If f(x)= x^2-6x-14 find the value of f(-2) (I prefer some kind of help rather than an answer, but answers are welcome)

Plug -2 in for x throughout the equation. f(x) = -2^2 - 6(-2) - 14. Then solve.

Explanation:

In order to figure out what is f(-2), we substitute all the "x" in the function with "-2" like this:

f(-2) = x² - 6x - 14 = (-2)² - 6(-2) -14

Now we can follow PEMDAS:

(-2)² - 6(-2) -14

= 4 + 12 - 14

= 2.

Hence, f(-2) = 2.
