Explanation:

If he sells half of his stamps and buys 8 more after and ended up with 33 I would take away 8 (33-8=25) and get 25 (which is the other half that he didn't sell). After figuring out what the other half was you would double this number and get your starting number which is 50 ( 25*2= 50)

So this is the set-up

50/2= 25+8= 33 and 33-8= 25*2= 50

It might be wrong lol but I hope this helped

do 33 divided by 2 (2= half) you get 16.5, you cant have half a stamp so remove the .5 to get 16, add 8 to get 24
