Answer:

Jasmine ate
(3)/(12) of the pizza.

Explanation:

So the problem tells us that Jasmine cut her pizza in 12 slices while Kelly cut it only in 6 slices (see first part of the attached image)

out of the 6 slices, Kelly ate 2 slices. This represents 2/6 of the pizza. So we shade two of the 6 slices of Kelly's pizza. (See second part of the attached image).

Now for us to be able to compare the two pizzas we need to find a way for all the slices to be the same (find the Least Common Denominator). We know that 6 fits into 12 two times, so we can split each of Kelly's slices in half, so now we will have 12 slices. This means that the amount of piza Kelly ate represents:

(2)/(6)*(2)/(2)=(4)/(12) of a pizza.

The problem tells us that Jasmine and Kelly together ate
(7)/(12) of a pizza. We know Kelly ate the equivalent to 4 slices the same size of those of Jasmine. So This means that Jasmine must have eaten 7-4=3 slices. So together they ate the equivalent to:

(3)/(12)+(4)/(12)=(7)/(12) of a pizza.

therefore Jasmine ate
(3)/(12) of a pizza.

Jasmine cut her pizza into 12 slices. Kelly cut her pizza into 6 slices, and ate 2 slices-example-1
