The French Revolution started in 1789 when French people stormed teh Bastille fortress. The economic situation and poverty of the members of the third state and the excessive richness of the King of France, were one of the causes of the Revolution that was influenced by other revolutionary movements as was the case of the Revolutionary War of independence in which the Continental Army defeated the British troops to gain independence form the English monarchy.
