The value of the function f(x) is 600 when x=0 and decreases by 9% for every one-unit increase in x. Complete the equation that represents the function f(x)

(If you could explain how that'd be great but you don't have to)

Answer:

  • f(x) = 600*0.91^x

Explanation:

Decrease by 9% is:

  • 600 - 0.09*600 = 600*(1 - 0.09) = 600*0.91

For each following term the previous term decreases by 9% and it is equivalent of multiplying by 0.91

So the function is exponential:

  • f(x) = 600*0.91^x
