so for the first measure you have 3 quarter notes and quarter nots get 1 beat then you have a rest which is also a full beat so the rhythm is one two three rest (1, 2, 3, rest)
for the second measure you have a set of eighth notes and a quarter note and a whole rest so the rhythm is one and two and three rest (notice the ands are counted because an eight note is consisted of ands because they aren't full notes) so ( 1 & 2 & 3 rest)
