72 students have vanilla ice cream and 20 students have chocolate ice cream. What is the ratio of the number of students who have chocolate to the total number of students?

Answer:

5 : 23

Explanation:

because in total there are 92 students ( 20 + 72)

so the answer would be out of 92 ( _ : 92 )

and so then you need to find out how many students ate chocolate ice cream which was 20

so it would be 20:92

but this answer could also be simplified by 4 or 2 and u would still get the same answer but I just used 2 so 2 goes into both of them so to simplify all u do is :

20 ÷ 2 = 10

92 ÷ 2 = 46

the answer would then be 10:46

but this can also be simplified again by 2:

10 ÷ 2 = 5

46 ÷ 2 = 23

So the last and final answer would be 5 : 23

Hope this helps and hopefully it's right, sorry if it's wrong though

The ratio is 20:92 because 20 people chose chocolate and the total amount of people is 92
