Solution :

Let, initial distance is
r_1 and final distance is
r_2.


r_2 = 3r_1

We know, gravitational force is inversely proportional to the distance between the objects. So :


(G_2)/(G_1)=(r_1^2)/(r_2^2)\\\\G_2 = (G_1 * r_1^2)/(r_2^2)\\\\G_2 = (G_1* r_1^2)/((3r_1)^2)\\\\G_2 = (72)/(9)\\\\G _2= 8\ units

Therefore, new gravitational force is 8 units.
