Answer:23 5/8 cups of flour is needed

Explanation:

Step 1

The ratio of flour to sugar is 2 ¼cups : 1 ½ cups

Using equivalent ratios, given that 15 ¾ cups of sugar was used ,

let cups of flour needed = x such that our equation becomes

flour / sugar = 2 ¼/ 1 ½ = x/ 15 ¾

Step 2--- Solving

2 ¼/ 1 ½ = x / 15 ¾

cross multiplying

2 ¼ x 15 ¾= 1 ½ x X

9/4 X 63/4 = 3/2 X

567/16= 3/2 X

X = 567 /16 X 2/3

1,134/48

X = 23.625 = 23 5/8

Therefore, 23 5/8 cups of flour is needed
