On the other hand, "b" has its minimum value as 513 (must be larger than 512); and has its maximum value as 607.

Then the maximum possible value of a + b would be: 511 + 607 = 1118

and the minimum possible value of a + b is given by: 1 + 513 = 514.

And the difference between these two numbers is:

1118 - 514 = 604
