The short sides of a rectangle are 2 inches. The long sides of the same rectangle are three less than a certain number

of inches.
Suppose that you are given the value of the unknown number. Verbally describe two methods for finding the area of

To find the area of a rectangle we know to use the formula: length • width.
Method 1: The width was given as 2 inches and the length is x-3. If given the value of x you subtract 3 from x and multiply the product of the subtraction by the width (2 inches)
2(x-3) = area of rectangle
I’m drawing a blank for a second method so hopefully someone else can help with that.
