Answer:

4 cans of soup and 2 frozen dinners.

Explanation:

Let the can of soup = x

Let frozen dinner s = y

Davis wants to the grocery store and purchased cans of soup and frozen dinners.

Each can of soup has 250 mg of sodium and each frozen dinner has 550 mg of sodium.

David Purchased twice as many cans of soup as frozen dinners and they all collectively contain 2100 mg of sodium.

x = 2y

Hence:

250x + 550y = 2100

250(2y) + 550y = 2100

500y + 550y = 2100

1050y = 2100

y = 2100/1050

y = 2

Since

x = 2y

x = 2 × 2

x = 4

Hence,

the can of soup = x = 4

Let frozen dinner s = y = 2

Davis bought 4 cans of soup and 2 frozen dinners.
