What do you call a person who enjoys having a different perspective of an argument?

For example, if everyone in the class thinks that the character is bad and evil but he/she chooses to make a statement that they're good people.

I'm trying to find a word that describes people with that mentality. (Need to a good word and not something mean)

Why is it beneficial to think like that?

you could use the word " optomistic" which can stand for always seeing the positive or seeing the good in people or objects that other people do not. another word you could use is "altruistic" which just means the selfless concern for the wellbeing of others
