Answer:

Bullying—manipulating others through fear and intimidation—is wrong. The very nature of bullying requires a victim that can be easily dominated and is generally unable to defend themselves. Either the bully is larger, more powerful, more violent or simple runs with a cadre of followers, insuring that the victim is always outnumbered.

Cyberbullying, in some ways, is a crueler form of bullying. While it’s not physically violent, it’s can be more damaging to the victim’s psyche. In a world where online interaction, especially among younger people, is an important part of everyday life, cyberbullying is nothing less than an assault, a constant attempt to make the victim feel like he or she is not wanted or does not belong. Like a water torture, it’s a drip-drip-drip from a hundred different directions that slowly robs the victim of any sense of self worth or self-esteem. Worse, it’s often beyond the reach or understanding of most who might help.

That’s not only why cyberbullying should stop, but why it’s so important that the few who can help—usually peers who are part of their network and aware of the situation—have an obligation to act.
