m<1 = 2x + 44

m<5 = 5x + 38

Since line m is parallel to line l, therefore:

m<1 = m<5 (corresponding angles)

2x + 44 = 5x + 38 (substitution)

Collect like terms

2x - 5x = -44 + 38

Divide both sides by -3

-3x/-3 = -6/-3
