Many criminals re-offend after they have been punished. Why do some people continue to commit crimes after they have been punished, and what measures can be taken to tackle this problem?

Step-by-step explanation:

some criminals reoffend because they prefer the living conditions of prison than their own. this could be due to a threat e.g ex gang members. or it could be because they are homeless or living in poverty. prison is a place where they receive a bed and free meals and are kept away from society. to tackle this problem there are some schemes that monitor newly released criminals and help them to start a new life with a job and adequate living situation.

another reason could be:

it is difficult for a newly released prisoner to get a job and earn money to pay rent etc. due to their poverty many resort to stealing and felony to survive
