If you were a poor farmer in 1 850, would you have chosen to join a wagon train to the West? Why or why not?

My opinion I would join The wagon, temporarily work for other ranchers for now, then slowly make my way to the north where most industrial jobs would be, lumber, factories (which wasn't a big thing (till early 20th century/1900's) this gives me more opportunity to work for decent jobs and invest in certain companies

I would because i could go to a new place and probably i could get a new job there, have some food, and maybe i could start a new family.
