The exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the 2 opposite interior angles.

129° is an exterior angle of the triangle, thus

x + 45° = 129° ( subtract 45° from both sides )

x = 84°

The 2 triangles formed by the tree/ shadow and Jordan/ shadow are similar and ratio of corresponding sides are equal, that is

let h be the height of the tree, then


(h)/(7) =
(50)/(10) = 5 ( multiply both sides by 7 )

h = 35

The height of the tree is 35 ft
