Given:

A right angled triangle.

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

We have,

Base = x

Hypotenuse =
√(5)

In a right angle triangle,

\cos \theta = (Base)/(Hypotenuse)

For the given triangle,

\cos 45^\circ= (x)/(√(5))

(1)/(√(2))= (x)/(√(5))

Multiply both sides by
√(5).

(√(5))/(√(2))= x

(√(5))/(√(2))* (√(2))/(√(2))= x

(√(10))/(2)= x

Therefore, the required value of x is
(√(10))/(2).
