In a newspaper, it was reported that the number of yearly robberies in Springfield in 2010 was 125, and then went down by 20% in 2011. How many robberies were there in Springfield in 2011?

Answer:

20% is equal to 1/5, so you would divide 125 by 5 to get 25. From here you would subtract 25 from 125 to get 100. There were 100 robberies in Springfield in 2011.
