An informative speech conveys knowledge, a task that you’ve engaged in throughout your life. When you give driving directions, you convey knowledge. When you caution someone about crossing the street at a certain intersection, you are describing a dangerous situation. When you steer someone away from using the car pool lane, you are explaining what it’s for.
An informative speech does not attempt to convince the audience that one thing is better than another. It does not advocate a course of action.
Argument writing is often called persuasive writing, but my take on the difference is that while persuasive writing was often more about the rhetorical elements, or how the writing sounded, argument writing is always based in fact and evidence.

There are many different types of informational texts, such as autobiography, informational speeches, arguments, and persuasive messages. The definition of autobiography is a story about someone’s life, by the same person. An informational speech is self explanatory. It’s a speech that informs someone. A argument is when two different people are talking rapidly about different outcomes of something. Lastly, a persuasive essay is something that wants you to agree, or side with the author. I feel like it is very shocking, because you could be talking about the same concept but make it so different in each format. As readers, we have favorites because we might think one is easier to read and understand than another. I like learning about things I might need to know later on. I like reading texts that are persuasive because they can change your opinion on someone or something. The facts about each text are what appeals to me.
