we can pick any 2 points on the line.

let's pick, (-1, 2) and (-3, 1)

Alright, so the formula to calculate slope is in the attachment below.

If you're a bit confused on what the little 2 and 1 at the bottom of each of those numbers are representing the points. So let's say (-3, 1) is point 2. And (-1, 2) is point 1.

the variable "y" is the y-coordinate.

the variable "x" is the x-coordinate.

And all we need to do now is just sub in the values and that's your answer.

so we have the 2 y-coordinates, 1 and 2.

We subtract them. 1-2=-1

then we have the 2 x-coordinates, -1, -3

-1-3=-4

so -1/-4 is -0.25
