2 (t+1) = 10
distribute the 2
2t+2=10
subtract the 2 over
2t=8
divide the 2
t=4

t = 4
divide each term by 2 and simplify
2(t+1)/2 = 10/2
t+1 = 10/2
t+1=5
t=5-1
t=4
