No, there isn't a more efficient way to solve this system.

Yes, a more efficient way is to multiply the first equation by 4, add to eliminate y, then solve for x.

The solution to the system of equation is x = 4 and y = 6

Solving a system of equation.

A system of equation is a combination of two or more linear equation with the purpose of solving for their variable. This can be done by using the substitution method or the elimination method.

In the question; we will be using the substitution method.

3x + 4y = 36 --- (1)

y = -1/2x + 8 --- (2)

We will replace the value of y = -12x + 8 into equation (1)

3x + 4(-1/2x + 8) = 36

3x - 2x + 32 = 36

x + 32 = 36

x = 36 - 32

x = 4

Replace the value of x into equation (2).

y = -1/2x + 8

y = -1/2(4) + 8

y = -2 + 8

y = 6
