I/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂

1/R = 1/2 + 1/2

1/R= 1 Ω

Rc= 1 Ω --------where Rc is the combined resistance of the two resistors in parallel

Then the combination will be all in series, where you now have four 2Ω resistors and one 1Ω resistor.

The total resistance now will be;

Rt= 4(2Ω) + 1Ω = 8+1 =9Ω
