Answer:

x = 2, y = 1

Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

3x = - 4y + 10 ( add 4y to both sides )

3x + 4y = 10 → (1)

4x + 3y = 11 → (2)

Multiplying (1) by 4 and (2) by - 3 and adding will eliminate x

12x + 16y = 40 → (3)

- 12x - 9y = - 33 → (4)

Add (3) and (4) term by term to eliminate x, that is

7y = 7 ( divide both sides by 7 )

y = 1

Substitute y = 1 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

Substituting into (1)

3x + 4(1) = 10

3x + 4 = 10 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

3x = 6 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 2

solution is (2, 1 )
