Can you combine an apple and an orange to make a cross hybrid fruit? (Not sure this classify as biology)

Explanation: Apples and Oranges are different species, therefore they are unable to interbreed. This would only be possible by gene splicing (Gene splicing is a form of genetic engineering where specific genes or gene sequences are inserted into the genome of a different organism) which is incredibly difficult.
