4w + 10 = 116

Explanation:

Call the width w.

The length is 5 more than that, so the length is w + 5

Perimeter is 2w + 2l

2w + 2(w+5) = 116

Distribute the 2 to the values in the parentheses.

2w + 2w + 10 = 116

Combine like terms

4w + 10 = 116
