i need help factoring polynomials and knowing the steps to reach the answer. 1) x² - 7x + 10 as well as 2) 6r² + 19r - 20

1) (x-2)(x-5)

2) (6r-5)(r+4)

Explanation:

1)

It will just be x since the coefficient is 1

To figure out the second number you need to think of the multiples of 10.

So either 2 and 5 or 1 and 10. Since 2 and 5 add to 7 it's them.

They're negative since 7 is and can still make a positive 10.

2)

This one is more just plugging and guessing to see which on works.

Find the multiples of both 6 and 20, afterwards plug in the multiples til you get 19 in the final product.

Since 20 was negative the one of the numbers would be negative.

I can't explain it lol
