A number increased by three is the same as quadrupling that number increased by five all divided by four. What is le number?

Let the unknown number be x

if the number increased by three, then we have;

x + 3

Also quadrupling that number increased by five all divided by four is expressed as;

(4x+5)/4

Equating bith expressions and calculating x;

x+3 = (4x+5)/4

cross multiply;

4(x+3) = 4x + 5

4x+12 = 4x + 5

4x-4x = 5 - 12

0x = -7

x = -7/0

x = ∞

Hence the number is infinity
