Explanation:

The equation
(y_(2) - y_(1) )/(x_(2) - x_(1)), the points are (-5, -3) and (2, 4), so to know which is which just do it by order, so in this case
y_(1) = 4, y_(2) = -3, x_(1) = -5, x_(2) = 2 basically like i said, just in order.

So let's separate the equations into 2 for now:


y_(2) - y_(1) = 4 - (-3) = 4 + 3 = 7


x_(2) - x_(1) = 2 - (-5) = 2 + 5 = 7

So put it together into the fraction and it's 7/7 which is 1, so the slope is 1

The slope is 1.

rise = 7
run = 7

7/7 = 1
