Some pencils are to be shared between Grade 7, Grade 8 and Grade 9 students in the

ratio 3:5:6 respectively. If Grade 8 students receive 196 more than Grade 7 students, find
the total number of pencils shared.

if grade 8 has 196 more, that means 196 represents two cause 5 is 2 more than 3, so then you divide 196 in half to get 98, then add 196 and 98, so grade 7 gets 294 pencils, the to find how many for grade 8 you take 294 plus 196 and get 460 so grade 8 gets 460, and for grade 9 you add 460 and 98 to get 558, then just add, 294, 460, and 558 and you get 1312. hope this helps
