we are to find the nature of the solution;

Take the square root of both sides

(z – 8)^2 = -1

√(z – 8)^2 = √-1

z- 8 = √-1

Note that √-1 will give a complex number i to have;

z = 8 ± i

This therefore shows that the equation has no real solution.
