Moving company A charges you a flat rate of $30, plus $1 for every mile you move. Moving company B charges you a flat rate of $20, plus $2 for every mile you move. How many miles would you have to move so that each moving company would charge you the same total amount

Answer: 10 miles

Explanation:

Given that :

Company A:

Flat rate = $30

Charge per mile = $1

Company B:

Flat rate = $20

Charge per mile = $2

Let x = number of miles

Company A total :

30 + x

Company B total :

20 + 2x

Miles needed To get the same total :

30 + x = 20 + 2x

30 - 20 = 2x - x

10 = x

Hence, 10 miles will be moved
