Answer:

A) There are two complex solutions.

Explanation:

To know how many solutions a quadratic equation has, calculate the discriminant of the equation.

discriminant = b² - 4ac

where a = coefficient of x²

b = coefficient of x

c = constant of equation

if b² - 4ac > 0 , then equation has 2 real roots

if b² - 4ac = 0 , then equation has 1 real, repeated root

if b² - 4ac < 0 , then equation has 2 complex roots

In this case, discriminant = 9² - 4(-2)(-12)

= -15

As -15 < 0, equation has 2 complex roots.
