CJ wants a new video game but is not sure which one to buy. His choices are 5 sports games, 3 role-playing games, and 8 action games. He writes the game titles on pieces of paper and puts them all in a bag. He wants to buy two different games. If he randomly selects two names from the bag, what is the probability that CJ selects two sports games?

Given that:

Number of sports game = 5

Role playing games = 3

Action games = 8

Total = (5 + 3 + 8) = 16

The probability of selecting two sports game from the bag :

First selection = sport game and second selection will also be a sport game.

This scenario with be a selection without replacement pattern

First selection :

Number of sports game / total number of options

5 / 16

SEcond selection : total left = 16 - 1 = 15 ; number of sports game = 5 - 1 = 4

Hence

P(sports on second selection) = 4 / 15

P(sports on first and second) :

5/ 16 * 4/15 = 20/ 240 = 1 / 12
