Let number of movies = x ; t = cost

Equation 1:

y = 40 + 1.5x

Company 2:

Monthly charge = $30

Additional = $2 per movie

Equation 2:

y = 30 + 2x

1) for equation 1 = equation 2

40 + 1.5x = 30 + 2x

40 - 30 = 2x - 1.5x

10 = 0.5x

x = 10/0.5

x = 20

Hence, 20 movies

y = 30 + 2(20)
