The actual distance between Singapore and Jakarta is 1000 km. On a particular map. 1 cm on

the map represents 200 km on the ground. What length on the map represents the distance
between the two cities?

Explanation:

From the questions;

1cm represents 200km on the map

If the length of distance between the cities is 1000km, the distnce on the map will be say x;

x cm = 1000 km

Divide both equations;

1/x = 200/1000

Cross multiply;

200x = 1 * 1000

200x = 1000

x = 1000/2000

x = 5cm

Hence the length on the map that represents the distance between the two cities is 5cm
