2x - y = - 9 ................ (2)

2x - ( x² + 7x - 5 ) = - 9

- x² - 5x + 14 = 0 ........ (3)

- 1 × (3)

x² + 5x - 14 = 0

( x + 7 )( x - 2 ) = 0


x_(1) = - 7 and
x_(2) = 2

2( - 7) -
y_(1) = - 9 ⇒
y_(1) = - 5

2(2) -
y_(2) = - 9 ⇒
y_(2) = 13

The solutions of system are

( - 7, - 5 ) and ( 2, 13 )
