The story concern Bima, the second of the five Pandawa brothers in the Mahabrata epic, and how he finds the waters of life. As a prelude to the great Bratayuda war, the opponents of the Pandawa, the kurawa, want to eliminate Bima. In oreder to achieve this, Durna, a former teacher of Bima and now spiritual advisor of the Kurawas, orders him to look for the water of life which was to be found in the Candramuka cave in a distant forest. Having reached the site he uproots trees and devastates the entire forest in search in the water angering two giants who live there. They regain their true forms as the gods Indra and Bayu and inform Bima with gratitude, that the water of life was not to be found in that forest at all. Bima then returns to Durna, who explains that the precious waters are now to be found at the bottom of he ocean. Derived from Javanese ethic page 116, Franz Magnis.
