Let's review segment bisector first. A segment bisector is a line that splits a segment in half. Final answers are at the bottom.

Excercise 1:

The Segment bisector is Line d. Because one half of segment AB is 15, the other half must also be 15.

15 + 15 = 30

Segment AB = 30 units

Excercise 2:

Applying the same principle, The segment bisector is Line l and the length of segment AB is 11.

Excercise 3:

This one is just a bit different. The segment bisector is Line R, but we dont have a length of one side yet. However, because we know that both sides of the segment are the same length, we can deduce that:

x + 12 = 8x - 2

12 = 7x - 2

14 = 7x

x = 2

Now lets plug in 2 for x in one equation:

x + 12

2+12

14

Because one side is 14, so is the other side of the segment.

14 + 14 = 28

Line AB = 28 units.

Excercise 4:

Following the same principle as the last example, we can deduce that the Segment bisector of ST is Point M, x = 5 and ST = 26

FINAL ANSWERS:

Example 1:

Segment Bisector: Line D

Length of AB: 30 units

Example 2:

Segment Bisector: Line L

Length of AB: 11 units

Example 3:

Segment Bisector: Line R

Length of AB: 28 units

Example 4:

Segment Bisector: Point M

Length of AB: 26 units
