Taro always went to swim with the fish. Jimmy wanted to be like Taro (not jealousy he was inspired). Their mother and father had left to look for a better life in California. One day, they had heard on the radio that Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Taro and Jimmy wanted to know why they were so worried (because Hawaii was far away). The FBI came and told Jimmy's father that he couldn't stay because he was Japanese. Later, Japan and America had a war, and all the Japanese people were forced to leave. They were forced to live in small guarded homes at a camp, including Jimmy, Taro, and the mother. When Jimmy was there, he lost his appetite. Jimmy seemed to become sick. Taro took his mother's scissors and scarf and escaped. He ran until he found a mountain and a source of water. He asked the fish in the river to help his brother. He caught some fish for Jimmy and returned. Jimmy finally ate. Months later, father was released and joined the family.
