Solve for x: 4x + 9 = 2x - 7

Explanation:

4x+9=2x-7 (subtract both of the numbers with variables)

4x

-2x

2x=+9-7

-9 -9 (-9-7=16) +* 2 negatives cancels out to make a positive *+

2x=16

16/2=

x=8
