function f(x)=x²-6x+1 in order to complete the square?

*f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c*
To complete the square, c needs to be (b/2)^2.
So in this case, you take -6, divide it by two. This gives you -3. Then you square -3, which gives you 9.
To have c = 9, we must add 8.
