1. Find the |x| meaning absolute value, which is just turning everything in the lines positive.

So |11-4x|=21 would be 11+4x=21

Then subtract 11 from both sides to get x alone

11-11 +4x = 21-11
4x= 10

Then divide both sides by 4 to find the variable

4x/4=10/4

X=2.5
