are the length and width of the rectangle?

length = 10 in, width = 6 in

Explanation:

Let the width be x.

Then, length = (x+4)

Area = 60 in²

Area of a rectangle = width × length

60 = x × (x+4)

60 = x² + 4x

x² + 4x - 60 = 0

Splitting the middle term :-

x² + 10x - 6x - 60 = 0

x (x + 10) - 6 ( x + 10) =0

(x + 10) ( x - 6)

x = -10 (doesn't fulfill our requirement)

x = 6

So, width = 6 in

length = 6+4 = 10 in
