The first saddle is believed to have been invented in 365 AD by the Sarmations.
They were held on with a girth or surcingle that included breast straps/cruppers. Saddles have now undergone significant improvements (obviously), from only using wool for stuffing to foam felt and polymer materials. In the many many years since so many changes both structural and stylistic have been added to the saddle as it has evolved heavily to offer support stability and as well as comfort to both rider and horse.

Saddles are the things that are used for horseback riding. Originally saddles only had wool for stuffing and now we also use foam, felt, and more modern technologies including advanced polymer materials and air.
