Answer:

The answer is 13.80$

Explanation:

25% turns into 0.25

38.40 times 0.25 = 9.60

38.40 - 9.60 = 28.80

28.80 - 15.00 giftcard

13.80$

Answer:

Total price = $25.272

Explanation:

Carmen final price can be calculated thus:

Given original cost= $38.40

25% off on original cost = 0.25*$38.40= $9.6

Carmen already has Gift Card =$15 off

Sales tax= 0.08×23.4($38.40-$15)= $1.872

Total price =$23.4+$1.872= $25.272

Note: since Carmen cannot have the discount and use the Gift Card at the same time, she would opt for the larger discount between the two which is the Gift Card that gives her $15 off the price. Sales tax 8% is then calculated on this final price( price after Gift Card discount)
