Answer:

4 miles

Explanation:

Given that:

Charges for the first
\frac{1}2 mile = $3.50

Tip given to driver = $4

Charges for additional 0.1 mile = $0.50

Total money available = $25

To find:

Total number of miles that a person can ride?

Solution:

Let us have a look at the money left after charges for the first
(1)/(2) mile and tip.

\Rightarrow \$3.50 + \$4 = \$7.50

Money left = $25 - $7.50 = $17.50

$0.50 is required for the distance = 0.1 mile

$1 is required for the distance = 0.2 miles

$17.50 is required for the distance = 0.2
* $17.50 = 3.5 miles

Total distance traveled = First half mile + Distance traveled with the amount of money remaining as calculated above. = 0.5 + 3.5 = 4 miles
